Obituary for Betty Jane Birginal

Betty Jane (Cantrall) Birginal, went home to God this February 1st, 2018. Born August 11th, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI, she graduated high school in 1953 and married Jim Birginal on October 3, 1953. The young couple purchased their first home in Waukesha shortly thereafter, a fact of which Betty was very proud. They were very close with their family and neighbors there, often throwing lively block parties and participating in community events. Jim and Betty relocated to Rhinelander in 1968 where Betty worked alongside Jim at Birginal Motors for many years. Betty was the ultimate wife, mother, and homemaker, and loved all things family. Her home was the gathering place for all holidays, family events, and summer reprieves.

Betty had a loving and vibrant group of friends with whom she enjoyed countless games of bridge, rounds of golf, and ladies’ lunches. Betty was a volunteer at the Rhinelander Senior Center and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels to community members in need. Betty touched hundreds, if not thousands of lives in her roles as wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, line-dance instructor, and bird lover.

Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years Jim Birginal, her children Cindy (Randy) Birginal- McCauley, Curt Birginal, and Chris (Daphne) Birginal, her grandchildren Jesse, Alicia, Amanda, Megan, Adam, Brandon and Brienna, her great-grandchildren Treiden, Easton and Aveda, her brothers Ronald (Delores), Warren, and Dennis and sisters Dolly (Jerry) and Sandra (Tom), nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her son Craig Birginal , great-grandson Austin Birginal and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, 2018 at noon, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services, all at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church- St. Joseph site. Father Randy Knauf will officiate. Interment will follow in the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Betty’s name and may be directed to her family.
