Obituary for Janet Mae Dickison

Janet M. Dickison, age 77 of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Rennes Health and Rehab. She was born on June 1, 1940, in Rhinelander to George and Caroline (Punches) Alsteen.

Janet was raised in Rhinelander and attended school here. She married Ronald Dickison on April 21, 1958, in Rhinelander and together they raised their family of three children. Janet was employed in the potato industry for many years and worked for Frito Lay, Sowinski Farms, State of Wisconsin Potato Farm in Starks, and the Rhinelander Potato Chip plant. She will be remembered as a dedicated and hardworking employee. Among her interests, Janet loved animals, enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially for holidays, truly loved preparing special holiday celebrations for her family, and was a passionate bargain hunter at garage and yard sales. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Janet is survived by her husband, Ronald Dickison; her daughter, Julie Braeger; her son, Ronald “Buzz” (Barbara) Dickison: son-in-law, Peter Schrump; grandchildren, Erin and Jason Doggett, Jennifer and Greg Bohn, Kayla Dickison, Nicole Dickison, and Derek and Zoie Mohr; great grandchildren, Mya Renn, Owen Bohn, and Aubrey Bohn; two sisters, Judie White and Melva Zarm; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Ronda Schrump; three sisters, Genevieve, Beatrice, and Evelyn; and three brothers, Herb, Eugene, and Charles “Bud”.

A gathering to celebrate Janet’s life will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017, at the Rhinelander Veterans Center, 1002 Coon Street. Private condolences for the family may be directed at Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is in charge of arrangements for the Dickison family.
