Obituary for Wayne Jack Fenus

Wayne Fenus, age 87, of Rhinelander, died on July 21, 2020, at the Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. He was born on September 11, 1932 in Denham, Minnesota to John and Meda (Hubbard) Fenus.

Wayne was raised in Rutledge, Minnesota and attended schools there. After his schooling he served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Duluth, Minnesota and went to work in the maritime on the Great Lakes. After doing that for a number of years, Wayne then went to work in the construction field. As he neared the retirement age he began his own business in sales. He traveled to shows selling pottery, jewelry and then clothing.

Wayne married the former Karolyn Koester on December 12, 1983 in Rutledge, MN and they enjoyed 36 years together. They moved to Rhinelander in the late 1990’s and have lived here since.

Wayne had many interests outside his work and in retirement. He loved anything to do with the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed reading and exploring. He and Karolyn took many drives to just “see what was out there” .

He is survived by his wife Karolyn, his step daughters Elizabeth Sievert, Lyn (David) Sievert and Stephanie (Larry) Wigand, his step sons William Woog and Stephen (Wanda) Woog, 13 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, his sister Donna Sievert and his brother John Fenus. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Shirley.
