Obituary for Ruth Tracy Kitzman

Ruth Kitzman, age 80, of Rhinelander, died on Satruday, Deccember 22, 2018 at the St, Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She was born on July 17, 1938 in Crandon, Wisconsin to Frances and Edith (Lambert) Tracy.

Ruth grew up in Crandon where she was captain of the cheerleading squad and prom queen, before leaving her small town to attend Columbia Nursing School in Milwaukee where she met her beloved husband Robert. Ruth was a nursing student and Bob was an orderly when they met. They were married on June 13, 1959 and were about to celebrate their 60th anniversary this coming year.

In 1966, Ruth and Bob moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where Bob was a Captain in the Air Force and served as the base physician. In 1972, they moved to Rhinelander to raise their children and later to start Northland Orthopedics. Ruth worked side-by-side with her husband as the surgical nurse for the practice, and was a master at organizing a house of four active children while working full time. Ruth was an active part of the community, helping to start the community concert series, acting as both a Boy Scout den mother and Girl Scout troop assistant, and organizing a multitude of fundraisers,

In her retirement Ruth remained as active as ever. She was a dedicated member of PEO and always remained involved in the community, frequently working at the food bank, helping with the blood bank and hospital gift shop, and assisting wherever needed. Ruth was a woman of enormous faith and greatly enjoyed serving in her church.

Ruth was a beloved grandmother who had endless patience and enthusiasm for her grandchildren. The thing she was the most proud of was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Ruth is survived by her husband Dr. Robert Kitzman, her daughters Tracey Kitzman and Erin(Brian)Alft, her two sons Michael(Julie)Kitzman and Patrick(Karen)Kitzman, her grandchildren Dakota, Nicholas, Colin, Zoey, Edrie and Brandon, her sister Linda(Charles)Metzger, her brothers Richard(Julaine)Tracy and Arthur(Connie)Tracy, many nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
