Obituary for Brian A. Norberg

Brian A. Norberg, age 58 of the Town of Nokomis, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at his home surrounded by family following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on February 19, 1961, in Chicago, IL to Harvey and Joyce (Nelson) Norberg.

Brian graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1979. He joined his father as a masonry contractor with Norberg and Son Masonry and in 1988, took over operation of the business following Harvey’s retirement. Brian completed many masonry projects throughout the area and prided himself on quality workmanship and satisfied customers.

Among his interests, Brian enjoyed bowling, baseball, snowmobiling, hunting trips with his family in northern Minnesota, and caring for his yard. He was a member of Pine Grove Community Church and was thankful that his skills as a mason could be utilized in the care and development of the church’s building and property. He considered the church his second home and its members an extension of his family. He was very grateful for the fellowship he found at Pine Grove.

Brian is survived by his wife, Candi Norberg of Nokomis; his mother, Joyce Norberg of Rhinelander; his son, Brandon Norberg of Rhinelander; a sister, Penny (Jim) Kittelsrud of Utah; niece, Ashley (Colton) Grove of Oregon; mother-in-law, Lillian Phalen of Crandon; three step children, Bill Barker of Green Bay, WI, Brian Barker of Crandon, and Vicki Shultz of Appleton, WI; and five step grandchildren. He is further survived by his adopted family, Eduardo and Angelica Calderon and their children, Jessica, Eduardo Jr., and Elyssandra of Green Bay, WI.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Norberg and a brother, Bruce Norberg.

The funeral service for Brian will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Pine Grove Community Church at the church’s new home at 1360 N. Stevens Street in Rhinelander with Pastor Jeremy Vander Galien officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests support of a memorial in honor of Brian for the benefit of Pine Grove Community Church and contributions may be directed in care of his family.
