Lance C. Kamke, age 81 of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. He was born on June 15, 1931, in Schofield, WI to Faale and Helen (Gies) Kamke. Lance graduated from Wausau High School and then served in the U.S. Army. He married his wife, Jeanette on November 6, 1976, in Schofield. Lance was employed in the purchasing department at Weyerhauser Paper in Rothschild. Following retirement, he moved to Rhinelander where he enjoyed time spent on Crescent and Mirror Lakes. Together, Lance and Jeanette spent winters in Gulf Port, Florida. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, dart ball, and following sports of all kinds. Lance is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kamke of Rhinelander; seven children, Karrie (Dick) Kamke of Mississippi, Kelly Kamke of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Kirby Kamke of Panama City, FL, Kory Kamke of Mississippi, Julie Wold of Scholfield, Greg (Jennifer) Smith of Merrill, and Jerry (Jennifer) Smith of Mosinee; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Katie (Rodney) Huber of Hazelhurst; three brothers, Harland Kamke, Merlyn (Arletta) Kamke, and James Kamke all of Schofield; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Funeral services for Lance will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) and from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Wittenberg, Wisconsin.
