Blanche R. Mahner, age 93 of Tomahawk, died on Monday, July 9, 2012, at her home. She was born on June 13, 1919, in Ladysmith, WI to William J. and Amanda A. (wolfe) Gillen. Prior to World War II Blanche was employed in the shipyards in Manitowoc where she met her future husband, Caren K. Mahner. They resided in Rhinelander where they raised their family. Blanche was employed as a cook at the Claridge and Rhinelander Cafe and Pub. She moved to Tomahawk in 1998 where she resided until the time of her death. She enjoyed cooking and baking and shared her skills with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Blanche is survived by her three daughters, Sharen (Donald) Alsteen of Tomahawk, Karen Jaeger of Tomahawk, and Jeanette (Roger) Radulovich of Rhinelander; 12 grandchildren, Sue Buchanan, Donald Alsteen, Cindy Wojciechowski, Sandy Scherff, Sharry Nelson, Lisa King, Christine Mahner, Allen Jaeger, Robert Jaeger, Angelique Jaeger, William Satterfield, and Lance Radulovich; 18 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Caren Mahner on December 29, 1978; and three sons, Billy, Roland, and Gene. Funeral services for Blanche will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery. |
