Nona B. Baron, 87, of Rhinelander, died peacefully on May 8, 2011 with her loved ones at her side following a nine year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on August 15, 1923 in Rhinelander. Nona is survived by her daughter Ruth(Ron)Palm of Rhinelander, WI, her three sons David(Dianne)Baron of Grand Haven, MI, Daniel(Elizabeth)Baron of Elcho, WI and Michael(Veronika)Baron of Rhinelander, her eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Nona was preceded in death by her husband Thaddeus (Ted) Baron in 2003 and eldest son Dennis Baron in 1980. The children believe she had a wonderful life. After raising five children Nona returned to the work force first at Reeves Foodlane and then ended her career after several years at the State of Wisconsin Dept. of Health office in Rhinelander. Nona and her husband Ted enjoyed an exciting retirement life of snowmobiling, cross country skiing and many motor home trips to Arizona, Florida and Texas. She was an avid gardner of flowers and vegetables, and an excellent cook. Nona and Ted were lifelong members of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. She spent the last six months of her life under the wonderful care of the AGI Nursing Home in Crandon, WI. Funeral services for Nona will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Nativity of Our Lord Parish-St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation for Nona will be from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Carlson Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until just prior to the services on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that all donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/www.carlsonfh.com) is handling the arrangements for Nona's family.
