Charles John Schultz, age 62, of Rhinelander, passed away on May 7, 2011 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Charlie was born to Charles and Fern(Phillipsen)Schultz on August 10, 1948 in Rhinelander, WI. He attended schools in Rhinelander graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1966. He then attended Northland College in Ashland, WI before he enlisted in the US Army in 1968. Charlie served with the Army in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star for his service. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Wisconsin and attended school at UW Platteville. After his schooling Charlie served his apprenticeship in steam fitting and then went on to work on large construction projects throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. While working on the Byron Nuclear Plant in Byron, IL, Charlie became involved with a large cattle breeding farm. He went on to manage that operation for the next twenty years. It was at that time he returned to Rhinelander and worked for C R Meyer construction until retiring in June of 2010 because of his failing health. Charlie loved to hunt and fish and made many wonderful trips to Canada, Alaska and the Artic Circle with his father and two brothers. He enjoyed his membership in the VFW, both here in Rhinelander and in Byron, IL. Charlie is survived by his wife Candice, his mother Fern, his two brothers James and William and his niece Laura(Matt)Hagen. He was preceded in death by his father Charles on March 26, 2007. Visitation for Charlie will be held from 9:30 - 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Carlson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Carlson Funeral Home with the Reverend Dale Bishop officiating. Charlie will be buired next to his father in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, WI. A memorial is being established to honor his fellow veterans and can be directed to Charlie's family.
