Kenneth J. Perry, age 86, of Rhinelander, died on December 31, 2010 at the Veteran's Home in King, WI. He was born on April 26, 1924 in Rhinelander to Oscar and Emma(Cook)Perry. Ken attended schools in Rhinelander until the time he entered the US Army/ Air Force. He served in the European Theatre during WW II and after his return to the states he continued in the National Guard for an additional twenty years. When he returned after the war Ken went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company and forty years later retired as a foreman. He married Evelyn Peterson on January 27, 1967 in Rhinelander and together they enjoyed many years of golfing, gardening and playing cards with many friends. Ken loved to sing and often times volunteered at the nursing home. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and the VFW Ray Rousseau Post 3143, and a longtime member of the Rhinelander Country Club. Few knew that Ken was also an accomplished writer who wrote under the pen name Poirier. A number of his poems and stories have been published. Ken is survived by his wife Evelyn, his daughters Pamela Fleischman of Mattoon, WI, Debra Lutsow of Wausau, WI, Anita Perry of Antigo, WI and Lisa(Jeff)Javenkowski of Blaine, MN, his sons Michael(Janice)Perry of Rhinelander and Jeffrey(Jeanette)Perry of Fulton, MO, his stepdaughter Judith Durkee of Rhinelander, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Steven and Daniel, his sister Ellen and his brother Francis. Funeral services for Ken will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Rebecca Niese officiating. Visitation will also be at the church on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 9:00 AM until just prior to the services. Entombment will be in the Northland Garden Mausoleum. A memorial is being established in Ken's name and can be directed to his family. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/ is handling the arrangments for the Perry family.
