Arlene J. Gleason (Joslin), age 83 of Rhinelander, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Ministry St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on February 26, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Herman and Evelyn Matthiae. Arlene attended schools in Gleason and Merrill; graduating from Merrill High School in 1945. She married Wesley Gleason in October of 1947. Arlene was employed in the OB Department at St. Mary's Hospital from 1965 to 1985. She then worked for the Rhinelander School District as a teacher's aide until retiring in 1993. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Arlene is survived by her husband, Douglas N. Joslin of Rhinelander; her children, Virginia (Norman) Forsythe of Germantown, WI and John (Linda) Gleason, Thomas (Sarah) Gleason, Terri Gleason, and Denise (Lester) Zunker all of Rhinelander; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Ney and Sally (Neil) Tesch both of Merrill; and four brothers, Dennis (Donna) Matthiae of Merrill, Douglas (Marie) Matthiae of Iowa, and Ralph (Gwen) and Ronald (Rose) Matthiae both of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wesley on June 12, 1997. Funeral services for Arlene will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Pastor Mark Ring officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Gleason Cemetery. |
