Karen R. Kort, age 70 of Rhinelander, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at her home. She was born on May 27, 1939, in Rhinelander to Andrew and June (Schoepke) Lehne. Karen graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1957. She married Roger Kort on May 28, 1960, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Rhinelander and together they raised their family of five children. Karen was employed at Ray's Castle Foods and then was employed as a cook for the Rhinelander School District, spending a number of years at Pine Lake School. She enjoyed time spent at the family cabin "up North", crafting, knitting, and sewing. She was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. Karen is survived by her husband, Roger Kort of Rhinelander; three daughters, Denise (Brian) Detert of Wausau, Julie Kort, and Becky Kort both of Rhinelander; two sons, Chris Kort and Jon Kort both of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Cynde Stevens, Rhiannon Kort, and Andrew Smith-Kort all of Rhinelander; a brother, Edward (Debbie) Lehne of Rhinelander; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sandra Brown. Memorial services for Karen will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Carlson Funeral Home with Rev. David Sternberg officiating. Gathering with the family to take place from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
