Agnes Staunch, age 97, of Rhinelander, died on February 24, 2010, in Rhinelander. She was born on January 7, 1913 in Marathon, WI to Wilhelm and Lillian(Marquis)Salla. Agnes attended schools in the Marathon and Wausau area and then went to work at both the Mint Cafe and the Wausau Hotel. On August 17, 1946 Agnes married George Staunch in Eagle River. They then lived in Rhinelander where Agnes was employed by Atlas Plywood and the Rhinelander Cafe and Pub. Agnes was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved to garden and take care of her house. She also loved and cared for any animal that happened along her yard. She enjoyed doing ceramics and earlier in life, her and George loved to go camping and fishing. Agnes is survived by her family and friends and is preceded by her husband George in 1997, two brothers and eight sisters. Visitation for Agnes will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at the Carlson Funeral Home on Monday, March 1, 2010. The Reverend Peter Korthals will officiate. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/www.carlsonfh.com) is hanlding the arrangements for Agnes' family.
