Tena Lynn Pinkowsky, age 54 of Lake Tomahawk, died Thursday, February 18, 2010, at her home with her family and caregivers by her side. She was born on December 18, 1955, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin to Arthur and Irene (Orloff) Pinkowsky. Tena was born with Down's Syndrome but despite her disability, brought much happiness to those who knew her. She received training and education while she was a resident at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wisconsin. After returning to the Northwoods, Tena was involved with Headwaters Regional Achievement Center and participated in Special Olympics; competing in track, bowling, and skiing. Tena is survived by her three sisters, Joy (Bill) Sorensen of Merrill, Wendy (James) Treptow of Brookfield, and Penny (Jerome) Ravey of Minocqua; three nieces, Christy, Tanya, and Tilesha; five nephews, William Jr., Eric, Adam, Justin, and Shawn; and her caregivers, Anita and Ed Blotnicki and their family. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service for Tena will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rhinelander with Pastor Charles Kohley officiating. Visitation with the family will take place from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will take place in the spring in Evergreen Cemetery in Woodruff. For those who would wish to honor Tena, her family would suggest memorials to Bethesda Lutheran Home or the Special Olympics program.
