Ronald Berndt, age 83, of Rhinelander, died on February 14, 2010, (his birthday) at the age of 83 years. He was born on February 14, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI. After his graduation from Rufus King High School in 1945 he then served with the US Navy. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the Milwaukee area where he went to work for the Evinrude Corporation for over 30 years. He married Ann Gardner on December 31, 1948 in Milwaukee and she survives him along with his three daughters, Patricia(Edward)Clinton of Raleigh, NC, Barbara Mlodzik of Granger, IN and Carole(Tony)Iadanza of Raleigh, NC, his son Steven(Debbie Krug)Berndt of Rhinelander, his four grandsons Steven, Nathan, Peter and Michael and his sister Myra Moog of Glendale, WI. He was preceded in death by a son Charles, his parents and three brothers. Ron loved to hunt and fish and all his extra time was spent doing one or the other. In Grafton he owned and operated Ron's Archery and also started the Saukville Bowhunter's Club. He enjoyed coming to his cabin on the river and looked forward each year to the goose and duck trips to Canada with his son Steve. A visitation for Ron will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM when a memorial service will be held at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow later in the Newbold Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Ron's name for the Ministry Home Hospice and can be sent to P.O. Box 174 - Rhinelander, WI 54501.
