Elton Ziegel, age 79, of Rhinelander, died on January 25, 2010, in Rhinelander. He was born on March 8, 1930 in Wausau to Ervin and Norma(Voigt)Ziegel. Elton attended schools in Wausau and then later served with the US Army in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the Wausau area where he met Carol Fisher. They were married on August 27, 1955 in Wabasha, MN. They then lived in Wausau for eleven years before moving to Rhinelander in 1967. In Rhinelander Elton owned and operated Northern Roofing until 1990, and then was employed by Dietz Construction for two years before retiring in 1992. Elton was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Earlier in life he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his two sons Clark(Chong "Kim")Ziegel and Rick(Tanja)Ziegel both of Rhinelander, his grandchildren Tyonna(Jesse)Birginal of Bay City, WI and Christopher Ziegel of Madison, WI, his four sisters Imogene Niewolny of Wausau, Isabelle(Wyman)Ruplinger and Janice(Ivan)Ruplinger of Marathon and Rosemary(David)Groth of Wausau, his three brothers Ervin(Ruth), Gerald(Florence) and Kenneth(Beverly) all of Wausau and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol on September 22, 2005, an infant son Mark and his parents. Visitation for Elton will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
