Dale E. Blumreich, age 87 of Rhinelander, died Friday, January 22, 2010, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. He was born on August 19, 1922, in Starks to Frank and Hilda (Wesenberg) Blumreich. Dale graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Rhinelander where he married the former Marion Lord on February 22, 1947, and they celebrated 62 years together until Marion's death last year. From grade school until his military service, Dale played the violin and the accordion. He was a machine operator at Daniels Manufacturing until his retirement in 1984. Dale was a faithful member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was a member of the choir. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. Dale is survived by his daughter, Caroll (Ray) Mealy of Huntingtown, MD; two sons, Steve (Susan) Blumreich of Springfield, MO and Gary (Nancy) Blumreich of Rhinelander; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Blumreich of Howell, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion on August 11, 2009; and a brother, Curtis. Memorial services for Dale will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Norman Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church in August. Inurnment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery. Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting Dale's family with arrangements. A memorial will be established in Dale's name for the benefit of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and contributions may directed in care of his family.
