Darlene M. Norvell, age 66 of Rhinelander, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at her home. She was born on May 1, 1943, in Gary, Indiana to George and Louise (Bohling) Weis. Darlene graduated from Dyer High School. She married Joseph Gudleske in 1962 and together they began their family in Indiana. They moved to Rhinelander where they assisted in the operation of Ravenswood Lodge Resort on Lake George. She later married Tony Norvell. Darlene was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and had been an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 717 in St. John, Indiana. Throughout her life, Darlene was known as "mom" to many and she enjoyed time spent with her family. Darlene is survived by her mother, Louise Weis of Lowell, IN; her husband, Tony Norvell; her daughter, Patricia (Ben) Zastrow of Rhinelander; her son, Joseph (Nicole) Gudleske Jr. of Valparaiso, IN; three grandchildren, Gabby, Sydney, and Isabelle; two sisters, Monica (Bob) Fath of St. Germain and Delores (Larry) Rosinko of Lowell, IN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George Weis; her former husband, Joseph Gudleske; a daughter, Kathleen Gudleske; and two brothers, Jimmy and Pee Wee Weise. Memorial services for Darlene will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Nativity of Our Lord / St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of mass on Wednesday at the church. Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting Darlene's family with arrangements. A memorial has been established in Darlene's name and contributions may be directed in care of her family. |
