Wilfred "Fritz" Kress, age 89, of Rhinelander, died on December 12, 2009 at his home in Rhinelander. Fritz was born on November 5, 1920 in Boerne, Texas to Daniel and Elizabeth(Bretzler)Kress. His family moved to Wisconsin when Fritz was just an infant. They settled in Rhinelander where he attended schools and then later met Martha "Dottie" Scott. They were married on June 19th 1948 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander and have enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Fritz was employed first by Robbins flooring and then as a yard man and salesman for McDonald Lumber and then for City Lumber. In his spare time and in retirement, Fritz loved to hunt and fish. He was fortunate enough to have had numerous trips to Canada for both hunting (Moose) and fishing. He was also known to be a "pretty good" gardener and carpenter. He was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Fritz is survived by his wife Martha "Dottie" Kress of Rhinelander, his two sons David(Lourena)Kress and Donald Kress both of Rhinelander, his grandchildren Joanne(Jake)Bishop, Timothy Kress, and Andy(Tara)Kress and his great grandchildren Olivia, Michael, Lukas and Callie. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. A memorial service for Fritz will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Carlson Funeral Home with the Reverend David Sternberg officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:00 AM until just prior to the services on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Carlson Funeral Home.
