Dan Marlatt, age 55 of Rhinelander, died Monday, November 23, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital following a day doing what he loved, hunting and enjoying the Northwoods. He was born on November 14, 1954, in Portage, Wisconsin to Ole and Margaret(Shaw) Marlatt. Dan is survived by his wife, Celia Marlatt of Rhinelander; his children, Kara Marlatt of Minneapolis, MN, Stephanie Tushoski of Three Lakes, and Dustin Marlatt of Phoenix, AZ; his mother, Marge Marlatt of Rhinelander; his father, Ole Marlatt of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister, Sue (Mike) Chrisinger of Rhinelander; and many friends and extended family. Dan was co-owner of Northern Title and Abstract. He was loved by many people and will be deeply missed by those whose lives he had touched. He had such an amazing outlook on life, enjoyed the outdoors very much, and always said, "When your feet hit the ground, it is a good day." Dan loved to go to Arizona in the winter so he could hike the mountains, ride the motorcycle, and sit on the back patio calling people and telling them what the weather was like; saying, "Man, I love it here." He was an avid hunter and just returned from North Dakota hunting with Dustin and Ole. Dan was very loved by his nieces and nephews and they couldn't wait to see him, especially, Erin, Joel, and Brodie. He loved to sing and could often be heard singing the words to every country song. Dan had a special place in his heart for his pet Yorkie, Bella who was also known as "daddy's little girl." As we, his family, mourn his loss, we are eternally grateful for the time that Dan spent with us. We will forever love him and will continue his spirit. Funeral services for Dan will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Bishop officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
