Irene Westbrook, age 88, of Rhinelander, died on November 5, 2009 at the Taylor Park in Rhinelander. She was born on March 30, 1921 in Tomahawk, WI to Gordon and Clara(Hoffman)Westbrook. Irene attended schools in Tomahawk graduating from the Towahawk High School. After her schooling Irene spent some time in California but settled in Rhinelander where she lived most of her adult life. In Rhinelander she was employed by the St. Mary's Hospital as a Nursing Assistant for many years. Irene loved to travel, walk, write, mainly letters to her many pen pals, and do embroidery. She loved to visit with her family and friends. Irene is survived by her three sisters Mary Dumpprope of Rhinelander, Jean Zacharias of Milwaukee and Betty(Darwin)Hulce of Tomahawk, her brother Carl Westbrook of Tomahawk, many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services for Irene will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Carlson Funeral Home with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery on Monday, November 9, 2009.
