Joyce Beverly Sweberg Hynek, age 79, of Rhinelander, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, after a long illness. Joyce was born in Rhinelander on April 29, 1930 to Col John H Sweberg, USAF RET, and Dorothy Williams Sweberg. After her schooling Joyce married Col James H. Hynek, Chaplain, USA RET, of Milwaukee. They then spent many years traveling while in the military. This not only included many stateside assignments, but many overseas also. It was while stationed in Korea and Okinawa that Joyce developed an appreciation for their culture and cuisine. Later in life Joyce returned to Rhinelander and was a member of the St. Augustine's Episcopal Church. In addition to her church she kept busy with many organizations and activities in and around Rhinelander. Joyce is survived by her son Lt Col Michael(Jane M.)Hynek of Charlotte, NC, her three daughters Anne M.(James)Prince of Metter, GA, Mary E. Hynek of Sharon, OK and Katherine J. Garrison of Rhinelander, WI, her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was also preceded in death by her brother John H. Sweberg, Jr. Family services and interment will be held in the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated in Joyce's name for the "Women of Arlington" at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA 22211.
