Irene L. Pratt, age 91 of Rhinelander, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. She was born on May 26, 1918, in Argonne, WI to Melvin and Lila (Converse) Knuth. Irene married Arnold W. Pratt on February 25, 1936, in Gresham, WI. They moved to Rhinelander in 1944 where they raised their family of three sons. Irene was a waitress for many years at the Rhinelander Cafe and Pub and also worked at several other local restaurants. Irene is survived by two sons, Norman (Ruth) Pratt of Rhinelander and James (Helen) Pratt of Burnett, WI; four grandchildren, Cynthia, James, Arnold, and Francis; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and three sisters, Lucille Hobin of Gresham, Elsie Matusick of Wisconsin Dells, and Elaine Miller of Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold on October 26, 1959; a son, Theodore Pratt in 2007; a grandson, Theodore Pratt Jr.; two sisters; and six brothers. A memorial service for Irene will be held at 12 p.m. (Noon) on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Rev. Kari Vadis officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
