Myron Dean "Tommy" Thompson, age 82, of Lake Tomahawk died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his home. He was born on October 15, 1926, in Porter Township, Indiana to George and Voilet Thompson. As a young man, Tommy served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and later was employed with Rockwell Standard in Gary, IN. He married the former Jeannine Pirard on July 27, 1957, in Gary, IN and later they moved to Lake Tomahawk. Tommy was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and Lake Tomahawk American Legion Post 318. Tommy is survived by his wife, Jeannine of Lake Tomahawk; three daughters, Toni (Wayne) Otto of Humble, TX, Donnajean (Edwin) Jackson of Snyder, TX, and Gaylene (Leon) Larson of Rhinelander; a sister, Lois (Ed) Howe of Crown Point, IN; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. A memorial service for Tommy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Korthals officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Interment with military honors will be in Wilderness Rest Cemetery. |
