Edna Marie Tackett, age 94, of Rhinelander, died on May 29, 2009 at the Taylor Park in Rhinelander. She was born on July 19, 1914 in Nora Springs, Iowa to General and Ida(Gould)Mathews. Edna married Virgil Tackett on June 6, 1951 in Florida and he preceded her in death in 1966. She was employed during her lifetime as a nursing assistant and occassionaly as a waitress. Edna was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She volunteered her time with many organizations especially the Logging Museum and the Senior Center. She is survived by her numerous Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her husband Edna was also preceded in death by her sisters Hazel Fawley, Alice Mathews, Anna Schoff and Clara Huebner and her two brothers Floyd "Ray" Mathews and Elmer "Bud" Mathews. Funeral services for Edna will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Carlson Funeral Home with the Reverend James Mickelson and Reverend John Palutke officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until just prior to the services on Tuesday, also at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. Edna's family would like to thank both the staff of Ministry Hospice and Taylor Park for the gentle care they provided Edna.
