Our Brother, Perry Norris "Gooch" Gould, age 67, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, under the care of Ministry Hospice while a resident of Milestone Memory Care in Rhinelander. Perry was born on February 4, 1942, the first son of Norris and Anne (Ullmer) Gould of Schofield. As a young man, Perry excelled in sports and was an outstanding athlete at the new D.C. Everest High School. He established records in Basketball, Football, Baseball, and Track that held for many years. His service in the Air Force led him to Texas, which became his adopted state for almost forty years. While living in Dallas, he took pride in the fact that he played first base in several fast pitch softball World Championship Tournaments. After returning to Wisconsin, he worked at the Helke Funeral Home in Wausau until his health failed. Perry was a very social person who loved to share a joke or a story. His many caretakers at Our House Assisted Living in Wausau and Milestone Memory Care in Rhinelander will especially miss him. Perry is survived by his sister, Lois (Don) Brown of Tomahawk; his two brothers, Norbert (Rachel) Gould of Houston, TX and Tom Gould of Wausau and Panama City Beach, FL; his half sister, Barbara (Don) Shepard of St. Louis, MO; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Anne; his sister, Nancy; and two sons, Gregory and Stephen. Burial at Restlawn Cemetery in Wausau will follow a private family funeral. Box 627, Wausau, WI 54402-0627, to enable sponsorship of local high school students who due to economic hardship would not otherwise have an opportunity to participate.
