Paul L. Luce, age 44 of Rhinelander, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on November 17, 1964, in Tomahawk to Frank and Rose (Schmidt) Luce. Paul graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1983. He was then involved in landscaping before beginning his career in carpentry. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 646 and currently served as the Local's treasurer. Paul was a carpentry instructor with Job Corps for a number of years and had recently taken a position as an instructor with the carpenter apprentice training center in Wausau. Paul was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed daily rides on his Harley. He participated in many outdoor activities including golf, hunting, and landscaping at his home. He was very active in the Carpenter Union and participated in many of their activities. Paul will be remembered as a loving father and dedicated friend and will be fondly thought of at the sight of a new construction project or a passing Harley. Paul is survived by his son, Matt Luce of Rhinelander; his mother, Rose Luce of Rhinelander; his companion, Linda Kau of Rhinelander; a sister, Paula DuBois of Rhinelander; his nephews, Zack and Jerry DuBois; a sister-in-law, Shonda Luce of Rhinelander; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Luce; a brother, Frank "Red" Luce; and a brother-in-law, Joe DuBois. Funeral services for Paul will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Pastor Larry Mathein officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and from 10:15 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Interment will be in Prairie Rapids Cemetery.
