Imogene R. Ray, age 84 of Rhinelander, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2009, at Taylor Park Nursing Home. She was born on the Coulter Farm in Crandon, WI on July 2, 1924; the youngest daughter of Martin and Myrtle (mcKenzie) Thomas. Imogene was united in marriage to Elton Ray on May 23, 1945, in Rockford, IL. They had resided in Harshaw before moving to Rhinelander. Imogene was a woman of faith who was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is dearly loved by her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by the people whose lives she touched. Imogene is survived by her husband, Elton Ray of Rhinelander; her three children, Garold (Mary) Ray of White Bear Lake, MN, Sheila (David) Hill of Crawfordsville, IN, and Lois Ray of Fort Shaw, MT; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; a brother, Roy "Gene" (Pat) Thomas of Crandon, WI; a sister, Marjorie Voice of Traverse City, MI; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy (Flannery) Thomas Ray; a granddaughter, Tammy Larson; a brother, Robert Thomas; and a sister, Gladys Rogers. Funeral services for Imogene will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Rev. Richard Littleton officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery in the Town of Cassian. A memorial will be established in Imogene's name for the benefit of Ministry Community Care for diabetes treatment and contributions may be directed in care of her family. |
