William "Bill" Schneider, age 79, of the Town of Pine Lake, died at his home of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, April 2, 2009. Bill is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Jill of River Falls and Sue (John Bogusz) of New Zealand; sons, John of Rhinelander and Tom (Jo) of Grand View; five grandchildren, Rainbow, Alexander, Nicholas, Cedar and Tamarack; and a great-grandson, Morris. Bill was a teacher at Rhinelander High School from 1958 to 1984. An avid runner, he competed in many marathons and triathalons and celebrated his 50th birthday by running 50 miles. He and his wife, Charlotte, spent many years traveling in their sailboat. In recent years, Bill enjoyed exercising at the YMCA and chatting with neighbors, friends and former students. The family will hold an open house at 5550 Mohawk Shores Drive on Sunday, April 19, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial donations in honor of Bill may be made to the YMCA, Ministry Community Care or Ministry Hospice.
