Dorothy Formella (nee Lepinski), age 81 of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. She was born on April 16, 1927, in Stevens Point, WI to Victor and Clara Lepinski. Dorothy graduated from Stevens Point High School in 1945. She married Lawrence Formella in 1949 and they lived in the Stevens Point area until 1963 when they moved to Rhinelander where Larry was employed as an insurance salesman. Dorothy was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed her children and later her grandchildren. In her younger days, Dorothy was an avid skier and bowler. She also enjoyed time spent fishing with her husband. She will be remembered by her children as a warm, loving, and kind mother. Known as "Busha" to her three grandsons, she will be remembered by them for her humorous antics, loving concern, and never forgetting a gift of money for any holiday of significance. She will be remembered and missed in Rhinelander by the numerous retail employees she met as she made her weekly rounds of errands; always ready to share a conversation with those that she knew. Dorothy will be sadly missed by all that came to know her. Dorothy is survived by her son, Gregory Formella of Germantown, WI; her daughter, Marilyn (Jim) Reppe of New Richmond, WI; three grandsons, Ernest (Christy) Reppe, Peter Reppe, and Andrew Reppe; her sister, Carol Tryzinski of Stevens Point; and her special friend, Patty Netko. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Clara; her husband, Lawrence on September 4, 1982; a sister, Betty Yulga; and a brother, Alfred Lepinski. The Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy will be held at
1 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009, at Nativity of Our Lord / St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rhinelander with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the time of mass on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Northland Memorial Park.
