Dale Urso, age 62, of Rhinelander, died on March 10, 2009 in Rhinelander. He was born on August 4, 1946 in Painesville, Ohio to Thomas and Elizabeth (Jacobs) Urso. Dale attended schools in Ohio eventually graduating from the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a BS Degree in Engineering. Dale began his career in Wisconsin Rapids with Consolidated Papers. In 1972 he went to work for the Wisconsin DNR as an environmental engineer. In 1978 Dale was promoted to Assistant District Director of Environemental Quality and then in 1985 to Director of the ten county North Central District. He eventually became lands program regional leader retiring in 2001. While with the DNR Dale was an influential leader throughout his career and he was a valued mentor to many working with Wisconsin's natural resources today. Dale married the former Patricia Schulte on November 6, 1971 in Marshfield and they moved to the Rhinelander area in 1972. Dale enjoyed everything to do with the outdoors, especially the walks with Pat and the dogs. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Rhinelander, his brother Robert(Nancy)Urso and nieces and nephews.
