Barbara Rose Svic, age 96, of Iola, Wisconsin and formerly of Pelican Lake, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Iola Living Assistance. She was born on December 20, 1912, in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary Ducar. Barbara married Leo Svic and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1995. She resided in Pelican Lake for 34 years before moving to Iola in 2005. Barbara had been a member of St. John Catholic Church in Pelican Lake and the Pelican Lake Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and fishing. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. In addition to her husband, Leo, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings and in-laws, Joseph (Gladys) Ducar, John (Stephanie) Ducar, Mary (George) Lacko, Sue (Frank) Korenin, Edward (Lorraine) Ducar, Paul (Sadie) Ducar, Steve Ducar, Frank Ducar, Charles Ducar, and Margaret Ducar. She is survived by many nieces and nephews including Betty and Ray Bargo of Iola and Richard and Jo Ann McNutt of Elcho and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at St. John Catholic Church in Pelican Lake with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Interment will take place in the spring in Forest Home Cemetery in the Town of Schoepke.
