Marie L. Juntgen, age 93, of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at the Friendly Village Nursing Home. She was born on September 12, 1915, in Milwaukee to Frank and Emily (Henrich) Oelerich. As a girl, Marie would travel from Milwaukee to the resort her family operated on Fawn Lake Road in McNaughton. It was there that she met her future husband, Max Juntgen, who she married on May 28, 1937, in Watersmeet, Michigan. Together, they resided in McNaughton and eventually moved to Rhinelander. Marie and Max served as foster parents for the developmentally disabled while they operated Woodvale Group Home in Lake Tomahawk for many years. Marie was an accomplished pianist and played at many venues around the area including nightclubs, "Stunt Night" shows, the Oneida Senior Center, local nursing homes, and for the Hodag Honeys. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and travel; along with her love of music. She will be fondly remembered as a true people person who loved her family and friends unconditionally. Marie was a special grandmother who shared much with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren over the years. Marie is survived by seven grandchildren, Cindy (Bill) Bailey, Susan (Dan) Donis, Chet Budreau, and Charlie (Lori) Budreau all of Rhinelander, Lorna (Jeff) Jung of Twin Lakes, WI, Craig (Brenda) Budreau of Plano, IL, and Stacy (Jeff) Golding of Hatley, WI and many great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max on January 26, 1989; her daughter, Louise Evers; and her brother, Robert Oelerich. Funeral services for Marie will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m on Friday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
