Audrey J. Tetzlaff, age 86, of Rhinelander, peacefully returned to the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Taylor Park Nursing Home. She was born on May 7, 1922, in Mattoon, WI to Theodore and Helen (Pecha) Heyer. Following high school, Audrey attended and graduated from the Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture. She worked as a beautician at Pearl's Beauty Shop and during WW II, Audrey was a supervisor at a defense plant in Milwaukee where she was involved in the manufacture of torpedoes. She married Herman Tetzlaff on August 1, 1942, and together, they raised their family of four daughters in Rhinelander. Audrey was a woman of faith and strongly believed in the power of prayer. She was a longtime member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. Her true passion in life was quilting and she shared that love through teaching the craft and making many quilts for family and friends over the years. She was a member of the Northwoods Quilters for many years. She also enjoyed reading and time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Her gentle kindness and love for animals was known by all. Audrey is survived by her four daughters, Jane (Marshall) Turner of Boynton Beach, FL, Candice (Charles) Schultz of Rhinelander, Marlene (James) Claflin of Roberts, MT, and Jaclene (David Pearlmutter) Tetzlaff of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Joshua, Paul, and Jaime; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Tetzlaff on May 11, 1998, and a brother, John Heyer. Funeral services for Audrey will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2008, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Korthals officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
