Glen H. Huigen, age 85, of Rhinelander, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Alice Haus. He was born on July 7, 1922, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Leonard and Celia (Krause) Huigen. Glen was raised in the Crivitz area where his family operated a resort. He entered the U.S. Army Air Force in 1941 and served during WW II until his honorable discharge in 1945. He married the former Viriginia Glawe on October 14, 1944, in Crivitz. Following his discharge from service, Glen returned to Crivitz where he assisted in the operation of the family resort. He was then employed in sales in Green Bay until moving to Rhinelander in 1957. Glen established the Hodag Sewing Center which he operated until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Rhinelander Bible Church. Glen is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Huigen of Rhinelander; a daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Cook of Appleton; two sons, Gary "Dylan" Huigen of Rhinelander and Ron (Elise) Huigen of Sarasota, FL; two grandchildren, Bryan Oelrich and Laurie Parker; six great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jane. A memorial service for Glen will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) with Rev. Jeff Weddle officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. |
