Richard D. Robinson, age 74, of Rhinelander, died on November 25, 2007 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. He was born on March 22, 1933 in White Lake, WI to Frank and Ida(Simmons)Robinson. Richard's family moved to the Rhinelander area where he then attended schools graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1952. Richard served with the US Army/National Guard from 1951-1963 and was serving at Fort Lewis during the Berlin Crisis. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander where he was employed by the Rhinelander Paper Company for 43 years retiring on January 26, 1996. Richard was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served in many capacities over the years which included terms on the church council and school board. He also served on ushering teams, counting teams and volunteered many hours of his time and talent on the new addition. Richard also enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting and he recently became a member of the DAV. He drove the medi van for the DAV at least once a month and enjoyed helping the other veterans. He married Nancy Zettler on August 5, 1959 in Rhinelander. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his three sons Rodney(Candace) and Robert(Barb) both of Rhinelander and Jason(Melissa) of Amarillo, Texas, his nine grandchildren Adam(Jessica Cook)Robinson, Kyle(Brittany Denton)Robinson, Nicholas Robinson, Mariah Robinson, Jordon Robinson, Alexia Robinson, Shiann and Raeleigh Whetzel and Crislyn Post; his three sisters Nancy(Thomas)Ives of Rhinelander, Betty(David)Sowinski of Sugar Camp and Helen(Dale)Gerdes of Rhinelander; his two brothers Karl(Shirley)Robinson and Roger(Mary)Robinson both of Rhinelander and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Fred, Lavern, Eugene and James. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend David Sternberg officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Carlson Funeral Home and just prior to the services on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial will be established in Richard's name and can be directed to his family.
