Eugene C. Skubal, age 81, of Rhinelander, died on July 2, 2007 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1926 in Rhinelander, WI to Joseph and Mary(Blong)Skubal. Eugene attended elementary school at St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and then graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1944. He then served with the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander where he was employed as a electrician for the Rhinelander Paper Company. He retired after 42 years of service. Eugene was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish. He was a past president of the Belles of St. Mary's and he served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. Eugene enjoyed hunting, traveling, gardening, creating carpentry projects and most of all, spending time with his family. He married Ruth Mary Halminiak on July 2, 1949. He is survived by his wife Ruth Mary Skubal of Rhinelander, his three daughters Loretta Rolain and Julie(Don)Clark both of Rhinelander and Sally(Richard)Amo of Rothschild, WI; his three sons Peter(Maxine)Skubal of Summerville, SC, Douglas Skubal of Concord, NC and Ted(Loni)Skubal of DePere, WI; his nine grandchildren Bill(Amy), Nicole, Bob, Joe, Jesse, Lisa, Aaron, Colin & Hanna; his two great grandchildren Tianna and Nicholas; his sister Mary Fox and his sister in law Pearl Skubal both of Rhinelander and many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Nativity of Lord Parish-St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Carlson Funeral Home, and from 10:00 AM until just prior to the services on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Nativity of Our Lord Parish-St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Eugene's name and can be directed to his family. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/www.carlsonfh.com) is handling the arrangements for Eugene's family.
