Thomas R. Schwanz, age 71, of Rhinelander, died on December 10, 2006 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital Center. He was born on November 26, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI to Erwin and Hazel(Gray)Schwanz. Thomas attended schools in the Milwaukee area graduating from Oconomowoc High School. He then served in the Korean War with the US Army. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Wisconsin where he operated a dairy farm in Ashippun, WI until his retirement in 1993. He moved to the Rhinelander area in 2000 and has lived here since. Thomas was a devoted father and was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Tractor Club. He also enjoyed refurbishing and working with antique tractors. Thomas is survived by his daughter Phyllis(John)Reske of West Allis, WI, his son Thomas(Jill)Schwanz of Jesup, GA, his brother John(Betty)Schwanz of Rhinelander, his former wife Betty Schwanz of West Bend, WI and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for Thomas will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon with funeral services at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 14, 2006, all at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend's Timothy and Kari Vadis will officiate the services. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/www.carlsonfh.com) is handling the arrangements for Thomas' family.
