Jan "Duke" Snyder Sr., age 58, of Rhinelander died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1948, in Illinois to Earl and Doris (Wilson) Snyder. Prior to moving to his home on Crescent Lake, Duke was a history teacher. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and grilling. He had been on the air with C.B. Radio since 1964 and made many friends through that media. He loved time spent on Crescent Lake, feeding his ducks, and visits from a mother bear and her two cubs. Duke is survived by his son, Jan Snyder Jr. of Rhinelander and a daughter, Jodi of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service for Jan will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the Carlson Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
