Clarence J. "Baldy" Neiber, age 79, of Rhinelander, died on February 24, 2006 att the Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. He was born on August 14, 1926 in Rhinelander, the son of Joseph and Mary(Skubal)Neiber. Baldy attended schools in Rhinelander graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1944. After his schooling he served in the US Army from November of 1944 until his honorable discharge in August of 1946. He served in the European Theatre during WW II. After his service he returned to Rhinelander where he was employed by Rueckert's Grocery Store, Montgomery Wards and then the Rhinelander Paper Company. He retired from the paper company in 1989. He married Esther Lovsletten on August 6, 1950 in Tomahawk, WI and she preceded him in death on May 31, 1985. He married Marian Olsen on September 7, 1991 in Tomahawk, WI.
Baldy was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
Baldy is survived by his wife Marian of Rhinelander, his two daughters Penne McCone and Diane(Brian)Young both of Rhinelander, his three grandchildren Ryan(Erica)McCone, Jeremy(Kristy)McCone and Megan Young, his great granddaughter Kallee Ann McCone, several nieces and nephews and his buddies "Bentlee" and "Luther". In addition to his first wife, Baldy was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ernst and two sisters Florence Bellile and Hazel Cahak.
Funeral services for Baldy will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Norman Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Carlson Funeral Home and just prior to the services on Wednesday, at the church. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial is being established in his name and can be directed to his family.
