Wallace Walkowski, age 64, of Rhinelander, died on January 8, 2006 at the Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander. He was born in Wausau, WI to George and Isabella(Pastuska)Walkowski. Wallace moved to Sugar Camp at an early age and lived there for most of his life. He served in the US Army in VietNam and then was employed by the Rhinelander Paper Company for 12 years. He married Mary Slack on November 4, 1972 in Rhinelander and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2005. He was a member of the St. Kunegunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp and he enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. Wallace is survived by his son John(Trista)Walkowski of Rhinelander, his granddaughter Bellarene "Bella", his two sisters Mabel(Gary)Busko of St. Cloud, MN and Beverly Mautino of Torrance, CA; his brother Dennis Walkowksi of Sugar Camp and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Mr. Walkowski will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the St. Kunegunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp with Father William Horath officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2006 from 9:30 -11:00 AM at the St. Kunegunda Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Kunegunda Catholic Cemetery. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/www.carlsonfh.com) is handling the arrangements for Mr. Walkowski's family.
