Funeral Service: Private family services have been held , at
Richard W. Levknecht, age 78, of Rhinelander, died on September 3, 2005 at his home. He was born on July 14, 1927 in Stockbridge, WI to Melvin and Cora(Hostettler)Levknecht. They moved to Rhinelander when Dick was a child and he graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1945. He then entered the US Navy and served during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander and married Vivian Pleoger on September 4, 1948. He operated Happy's Cafe for a period of time and then went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company. He retired in 1989 with 33 years of employment. Dick was a former member of the Pine Lake School Board and the Oneida County Board. He served as a supervisor for the Town of Pine Lake for 18 years, was President of the union at the Paper Company and also coached Little League when his own boy's were growing up. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling. He and his wife also enjoyed the many trips they took over the years, especially the trips to Florida. Mr. Levknecht is survived by his wife Vivian, a daughter Susan(Robert)Morasch of Green Bay, WI, his 3 sons Gary(Laurie) of Ada, Michigan, Peter(Donna) of Rhinelander and Rick(Beth) of Palo Verde, California, his 5 grandchildren Kristi(Nick)Treder, Jessica, Adriene and Brian Levknecht and Michelle Morasch. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a brother Gene. Private family services have been held.
