|Arlene Matthies, age 68, of Rhinelander, died on August 12, 2005 in Rhinelander. She was born on May 17, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI to Robert and Isabel(Feilbach)Wetterau. Arlene attended schools in the Milwaukee area graduating from Menomonee Falls High School. Arlene then attended business school for two years at Spencerian College. During her lifetime she had been employed as a CNA in private home health care and as a court reporter. Her main employment was her position as an executive secretary for General Motors, a position she held for 17 years. She married the love of her life William Matthies on December 20, 1978 and he preceded her in death in June of 1998. Arlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and after moving to Rhinelander in 1999 she was involved with the St. Mary's Hospice program. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Arlene's name for the St. Mary's Hospice Program.
Arlene is survived by her 4 daughters Carole Ann Matthies of Rhinelander, Suzanne(John)Dudley of Belcher Town, MA, Wendy(Gary)Ledoux, Pam(Heinz)Kahmann of Milwaukee, WI, a son Michael(Dale)Matthies of Grafton, WI, 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her brother Ron(Lois)Wetterau of Rhinelander, two nephews Jon and James Wetterau of Rhinelander, other nieces and nephews, her dear friends Donna Dixon, Bonnie Evenson and Erin Stewart all of Rhinelander and many other friends. In addition to her husband Arlene was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Mrs. Matthies will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at the Carlson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the Our Savior's Cemetery in the community of Dheinsville, Germantown, WI. Interment will be in the Our Savior's Cemetery. The Carlson Funeral Home (369-1414/carlsonfh.com) is handling the arrangements for Mrs. Matthies family. |
