August "Gus" Ruebl, age 90, of Rhinelander, died on July 13, 2005 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk, WI. He was born on October 23, 1914 in Milwaukee, WI to George and Eva(Zeller)Ruebl. Mr. Ruebl attended schools in Milwaukee and then served with the US Army during WW II. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Milwaukee where her married Marie Scherf. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2005. They had 53 wonderful years of marriage. They owned and operated a business in Milwaukee until moving to Crandon in 1960 where they owned and operated Ruebl's Bonnie Beach Resort on Lake Metonga until retiring in 1977. They then moved to Rhinelander and have lived here since. Mr. Ruebl enjoyed playing the accordion and was self taught. He and his wife enjoyed music and dancing. He also loved the outdoors and hunted and fished when ever he had the chance. He is survived by his son Frank(Gretchen)Ruebl of Crandon, WI, 5 grandchildren, his two brothers Frank(Ora)Ruebl of Hales Corners, WI and George(Pat)Ruebl of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Tommy, and 3 brothers. Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Crandon Lakeside Cemetery. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/www.carlsonfh.com) is handling the arrangements for Mr. Ruebl's family.
